Grant Wood Area Education Agency and the University of Iowa Center for Assistive Technology Education & Research Presents:
The 2017 “Building Bridges: Eastern Iowa Assistive Technology Conference” will provide an opportunity to see first-hand the latest in assistive technologies (AT), practices, and services for school-age students with disabilities. This AT conference will serve as a unique opportunity for professionals, parents, administrators and service providers to exchange and gather information on the current status and assistive technology tools available for consideration.

Mrs. Lindsay Spears is the PK-12 Learning Supports Facilitator at College Community School District. Her passion areas include equitable access to curriculum, instruction, and assessment for all students, special education law, Universal Design for Learning, accessibility tools, and personalized learning systems.

Mrs. Spears started her educational career as a paraprofessional before becoming a classroom teacher in the general and special education settings. She also worked at a non-profit agency in Iowa City, where she was a counselor for adults with disabilities and mental health needs.
Lindsay served College Community School District as the K-12 Curriculum Lead for Special Education prior to assuming a new position as the PK-12 Facilitator of Learning Supports. This position allows her to provide leadership for an inclusive and equitable education system by coordinating access to student services and supports. Mrs. Spears is responsible for building the knowledge, skills, and dispositions of staff in meeting the needs of all learners. She also provides leadership for the alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices with the goal of ensuring effective implementation of proven teaching and learning strategies. In addition, Mrs. Spears coordinates ELL services, plans/facilitates professional learning for staff, serves as the district homeless and foster care liaison, and provides leadership and support in alignment with the district's vision of Success for All.
